Living Room

Gallery Wall

Well… I got something done; partially lol ;) I started working on my gallery wall that I’ve been dreaming off. Here is the beginning of it. I need to add something to the open spot on the top right. I’m thinking either a book wreath or some of those popular antler things. What do you think?  You see that awkward white box inside of the frame on the top left? Its my doorbell. I plan on somehow covering it either with burlap or placing a picture on it. Yes… the skeleton and Mr. Black Bird are not regulars…. they will disappear after Oct. 31st ;) I still need to fill in a few gaps with some more frames. By the way did ya notice those paint spots at the bottom? lol I can’t decide!

I think I want to add one of these cute little cubbies below my gallery. It will keep the kiddos away from the frames and provide storage for the area. My front door is to the right of this wall and we always have shoes scattered everywhere so this would be perfect for shoe storage.

Back to those paint spots….. so I spent time rearranging and placing everything on my wall and then I decided I REALLY need to paint my living room. When we bought our house all of the walls were covered in the usual builder tan. I was to chicken to paint my brand new walls so they’ve stayed that color for THREE YEARS! Welp…. I’m sick of it ;) Now I need to decide on the right color. Ya know choosing paint for pretty much the entire main area of your home is no easy task. Its pricy to purchase all of the paint and it’s going to be A LOT of work painting all of it. What if I hate it when its done? EEEEK

{left paint color: Valspar Sage Morsel} {right paint color: Valspar Anti Meridian}

These are the two colors I’m trying to decide between right now. During different times of day they either look darker/lighter so I’m having a hard time choosing. Which one do you like? Also, I’m still trying to finish that darned coffee table but I can’t seem to make it look right lol I think I’m on a bad luck streak right now….. maybe it’s not the best time to be painting my entire house?

Hang Those Curtains!

Every room in your house needs some type of window treatment. There are various ways to hang curtains; the typical way being with a curtain rods. I needed to hang panels in a living room that wasn’t in need of functional curtains. Their sole purpose was for decor. I wanted something more unique for my clients living room. I originally thought about draping the curtains over three/four separate pegs similar to this:

After browsing around I decided to go with a simple wrought iron piece that has three hooks. I purchased it from Hobby Lobby during their 50% off sale.

The curtains serve no functional purpose and are there for decor only. I love the simplicity behind these curtains but that bold yellow makes such a statement!

The best part about these bad boys…. they were SOOO easy to hang! Each panel had fabric slats along the top/back. I fed two slats through a hook and then skipped a slat. I didn’t have to alter the length or do any sewing to hang them!

I wish I would have taken a picture with both windows in it. The curtains framed the rock fireplace perfectly! You can check out more images from the Parade of Homes Living Room if you want! Happy curtain hanging!
