Parade of Homes Stenciled Half Bath

I’ve been very busy decorating this SLC 2011 Parade Home! I have a few last minute touches and it will be FINISHED! It’s been a stressful few months but the end result is going to be SO worth it. I’ll post pictures soon of the entire house but here is the half bath that I stenciled. I choose this very daring light green color. I loved the color but the bathroom was a little TOO bright. This area of the house doesn’t have a lot of natural light so when you turned the bathroom light on it GLOWED. It definitely needed something else. Here are some before and after pics….

The stencil really toned down the green and gave the bathroom a finished look! I LOVE it and I’m dying to stencil something in my own house :) Check back soon for pictures of the entire house!

I forgot to tell you where I found the stencil. WHOOPS! I used the fan flower stencil from Olive Leaf Stencils. I LOVED it and would definitely use one of their stencils again. Their shipping rocked; it was here within 3 days!

Nautical Decor

Remember my sneak peak …. Here is one of the finished projects! It all began with this cute little guy! I picked him up at Home Goods for $19.99.

I’m decorating on a tight budget and really needed something else for the walls. I found these awesome frames at a yard sale for $1.00 a piece! I brainstormed for a while and came up with the starfish idea. The starfish are also from Home Goods = $9.99 for a whole bag.

I  covered some durable card board with a piece of burlap and hot glued the starfish to it. It’s so simple but it’s exactly what I needed! I cant wait to reveal the pictures from my BIG PROJECT!

*FYI… to get rid of the stinky ocean smell your starfish may have…. just soak them in a bucket of diluted bleach water for a few hours and set them out in the sun to dry. It brightened the colors a little too.

Fall Dreamin’…. no i’m not crazy

Fall Dreamin

Don’t get me wrong….. I am in NO MEANS wishing Summer away! I was at Pier One a few weeks ago looking for a certain goldish/yellow colored pillow. After searching around with the sales clerk and not finding that certain color of yellow he replied, “Ya know you should check back in a few week. Believe it or not we are already getting are fall shipments in”. SAY WHAT?!?! Thank you kind sales clerk for putting the thoughts of dreamy fall into my mind! If you don’t know already I have a slight obsession with the fall season. Something about those warm comforting colors, the soothing changing leaves, and the smells of nutmeg and pumpkin are just irresistible. I know we finally hit those warm summer temperatures and I am definitely enjoying them but I really cant stop thinking about fall…. so I made a vision board….. and AWWW I feel better :) Now back to fun in the sun while it lasts! Just know that when Summer is over I wont be too disappointed….. at least until the first snow comes!

Side Note : I’ve always been into the traditional fall colors. Ya know the oranges, yellows, and browns. Well I played around with my vision board and I’m totally diggin the blues with the oranges, tans, browns, and greens! I just might take the non traditional path this year…. I guess we’ll see :)

Spring Fever

I found that darling pitcher at IKea in the scratch/dent section for almost 75% off! I added some bright flowers and I have spring in the corner of my kitchen! Remember the hideous picture frame I found at the thrift store? I originally painted yellow but I just recently changed it to white and I like it MUCH better! It’s amazing how bright my kitchen looks now that I have my corner of spring! I can’t wait for the flowers in my front yard to bloom!

Total Cost for my Spring Fever : $21.47
