2011 Wrap Up

WOW what a year! I’ll be honest…. I was pretty oblivious that it “really” takes that much work to run a blog! I haven’t quite reached my one year mark yet with Lavender and Lemon Drops but I’ve already learned A LOT! I’ve made a few new and dear friends through blogging and I’m really LOVING it! I decided to browse around in the “Stats” area of my blog and thought it would be fun to do a little yearly wrap up. I’ll share your “Favorite” blog posts along with a few of mine.

Lets start with your favorites:

# ONE – was my Striped Bathroom

This is my boys bathroom/the main bath. I LOVE the transformation and I still think it might be my favorite room in the house! This is also my #1 FAVORITE post!

# TWO – The Anthropology Knock Off Lamp Shade

I made this lamp shade for a client. I was  inspired by a lamp shade I found at Anthropology but gasped at the price! It was fun to create a knock off version for less than ten bucks!

# THREE – Tiered Plate Stands

This was one of my very first posts. Honestly when I checked my Stats to see what the “favorite” posts were I was rather surprised to see this one but I’m glad you like them :) These cute little stands are perfect for hosting parties and serving up all of those yummy treats.

Now for my Favorites:

Knock Off West Elm Curtains

The Faux Beam Shelf
That big ol’ shelf added A LOT of character to my living room! Do you guys remember my on going battle between layouts? Well…. I’m still kinda in love with this one so I might be rearranging soon ;)

The Old Revamped Mirror

This is one of my favorite things in my home! I’m so glad the first attempt at refinishing my old mirror didn’t work out because I created this!

Thanks you so much for following along with me as I explore my creative side and grow my blog! I truly appreciate all of my followers and every single comment you leave! I also want to thank all of my Party Peeps. I am grateful for the weekly opportunities to link up and share what I’ve been working on.  I hope to kick off the new year with a more catchy blog design that my sweet husband is helping me with!  I wish you all the very best through next year :)

Hooray for Vacuums!

So I’m not one to really do reviews but this thing rocks so I thought I would share it with you :)

The one thing I REALLY wanted for Christmas was a new vacuum…. I know I know….. I’m lame ha ha. I LOVE a clean house what can I say. My old vacuum was over heating and was only capable of cleaning one room at a time before it completely shut down for at least 24 hours. We did a little research and found the Shark Vacuum. It compares to the lovely Dyson but for half the price.

We found the nicest one which normally sells for $199 at Costco for $119! Awesome! Here are the things I love about  it….

  • Obviously it works really really good! We have a thicker shaggy carpet and it vacuums up everything, no problem. Great sucking power!
  • Its small. It fits in between your furniture and all of the little areas my Hoover vacuum wouldn’t.
  • It is very easy to push around and use. It swivels from side to side which also helps get into those smaller places.
  • It came with extra hoses and brushes for vacuuming your stairs, blinds, or your car!
  • Very easy to empty the container
  • no dirt/crumb kick back when you vacuum with out the brush on tile/solid surfaces
  • easy to store because its compact and small
I really haven’t found anything to complain about yet. I’ve only had it for a few days of course, so if I find anything negative about it I’ll let ya know! If you are in the market for a new vacuum I would check these bad boys out!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas :)

Happy Holidays

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year!

“The Mirror”

I’d been searching for quite awhile to find a long oval shaped mirror. I was at our local thrift store when I spotted a mirror, just like the one below but without the stand, and it was priced at five bucks!

Yippee I took my proud thrift home and got to work on the makeover. I pulled the entire mirror out to paint it…… when I put it back in it shattered. Ya know those “projects gone wrong” that pretty much bring you to tears? That’s exactly what happened to me. I was VERY upset that my vision wasn’t going as planned. I called around to price a new mirror and it would cost $60. I pushed my broken project aside and left it for a few months. Sometimes I think that’s the best thing…..it gives you time to recover (ha ha ha) and let your creativity brew. I’m so glad I did because this is what I came up with instead……

I covered the cardboard backing of the mirror in burlap and VOILA! I already had my pretty book wreath hanging on my wall all by itself but it looks more “at home” hanging here!

It now softens up the wall above my T.V and I honestly couldn’t happier that my project was a FAIL.

I don’t think I’ve shared this view of my living room yet. It’s all coming along! I guess everything does happen for a reason even if it pertains to home decor ;)
