Faux Brick Wall

It’s finally finished and I’m in LOVE! It took me a little longer than anticipated but that’s usually how my projects pan out! Here is the nitty gritty….

Brooke’s inspiration picture, and the faux brick wall that she created from it, were my inspiration. The messy brick look instantly captured my heart and became the missing piece for my room. I was determined to achieve this look!

I purchased the faux brick panels from Lowes and attached them to the wall using liquid nails and a nail gun.

To give the wall a textured look I used joint compound in place of paint (Brooke used a white paint to cover the black grout and to create the “smeared” areas). To add extra depth and texture I used my finger to apply the compound to the grouted areas.  I had to remind myself that I was after an imperfect look. The faster and thicker you layer it on the better it looks! After the grout was filled in I used a mud spatula to smear the compound in random areas. Again, aim for imperfection!

Next up on the list is reupholstering my headboard! Slowly but surely my room is coming together.  Here is a little peak at what the room looks like with the bed against the wall. The missing piece was filled and my room finally has character!

Oh and just in case you were wondering…….this is what it looked like before! The wall looks SO much smaller and sad… really its screaming “add something marvelous to me please please please” ha!

Kitchen Design

Why is it when I’m in the middle of a re-design I find a bunch of really awesome things that I want for another room? Does this happen to anyone else? I always have this awesome vision for my room, and then when I finally start working on it, I kinda loose it and get inspirational OVERWHELM for a different room. So weird! Yes, I’m still working and going strong on my master bedroom, but I can’t stop thinking about my darn kitchen. Let me just show ya a few of the things that have distracted me lately…..

This industrial pendant light from Home Depot caught my eye especially at a price of $24.88.

I found these lovely chairs on Overstock a few months ago.  I was searching for them to put this post together and they dont have them in my color anymore! EEEK I totally should have impulse bought them…. now I kinda regret it. These are the same chairs but the ones I liked matched the pendant light above. These are an AWESOME deal at $157.49 for four of them.

No worries I found a few alternatives that I think I might like even better. I like these for the end of the table at $150 for two.

and these for the sides of the table at $118.84 for two. They are more expensive than my industrial metal chairs but they are lovely!

Ikea has a few kitchen islands that I’m totally in LOVE with.

I really like this style at $199. I would paint the legs/bottom white and stain the top a dark walnut.

While I’m on this inspirational picture sharing kick…. I might just have a new little idea up my sleeve for my accent wall. Brooke at All Things Thrifty is adding a faux brick accent area in her home right now. I’m waiting for her reveal and tutorial to see how it turns out ;) I repined a few of her inspiration pictures on
