Parade of Homes Stenciled Half Bath

I’ve been very busy decorating this SLC 2011 Parade Home! I have a few last minute touches and it will be FINISHED! It’s been a stressful few months but the end result is going to be SO worth it. I’ll post pictures soon of the entire house but here is the half bath that I stenciled. I choose this very daring light green color. I loved the color but the bathroom was a little TOO bright. This area of the house doesn’t have a lot of natural light so when you turned the bathroom light on it GLOWED. It definitely needed something else. Here are some before and after pics….

The stencil really toned down the green and gave the bathroom a finished look! I LOVE it and I’m dying to stencil something in my own house :) Check back soon for pictures of the entire house!

I forgot to tell you where I found the stencil. WHOOPS! I used the fan flower stencil from Olive Leaf Stencils. I LOVED it and would definitely use one of their stencils again. Their shipping rocked; it was here within 3 days!

Lap Desk Redo

I found this padded lap desk at the DI for $5.00. I really needed a serving tray and boy oh boy did it live up to its potential !
I removed that hideous padding and primed and painted the whole thing

I love painting things cream when they were originally black. The distressed look is more dramatic; it’s my favorite!

I mod podged a yellow damask paper on the inside and covered the back with a light grey. I LOVE how it turned out!

Do you recognize my bargains?

Nautical Decor

Remember my sneak peak …. Here is one of the finished projects! It all began with this cute little guy! I picked him up at Home Goods for $19.99.

I’m decorating on a tight budget and really needed something else for the walls. I found these awesome frames at a yard sale for $1.00 a piece! I brainstormed for a while and came up with the starfish idea. The starfish are also from Home Goods = $9.99 for a whole bag.

I  covered some durable card board with a piece of burlap and hot glued the starfish to it. It’s so simple but it’s exactly what I needed! I cant wait to reveal the pictures from my BIG PROJECT!

*FYI… to get rid of the stinky ocean smell your starfish may have…. just soak them in a bucket of diluted bleach water for a few hours and set them out in the sun to dry. It brightened the colors a little too.

Antique Finds

A nurse at work told me about a little antique store in town that is trying to get rid of some stuff. I stopped by on my home from work and I was in HEAVEN! She had a lot of awesome antiques. She had a few old steamer trunks that I REALLY REALLY wanted but the price was a bit to high for me. They were perfect and my living room would have gladly welcomed one as a new coffee table. Maybe next time.

That little scale is my absolute favorite find! It’s the cutest turquoise blue color and has the perfect vintage touch.

She had a TON of the old Ball bottles. You cant see their true blue perfection in the picture but they are awesome. I think the little basket in the back is an old vegetable basket.

Two washboards and an old oil lamp. That lamp is awesome also. It has a rustic brown look that I just love.

I’m not so sure this is an antique but I’ve been searching for a globe to put in my son’s airplane room. I didn’t want the usual blue globe…. I wanted something with that little vintage touch. Its perfect and exactly what I was looking for!

The best part…… all of these AWESOME antique finds only cost me

$40.00

I’m in Love!
