A Friendly Spotlight

While I was doing a few link parties last week I came across a very lovely blog Eclectically Vintage. Her fireplace display instantly drew me in and I’ve not stopped thinking about it since! It was so beautiful that I decided to share it with you!

AMAZING right! I’m in love with that old bedspring, the wreath tied with burlap and the fresh green garland.  Its so beautiful and looks very cozy!

All of her mercury glass trees drew my eye in also….. really I’m in LOVE and I think I need a vintage bedspring now. Stop by her cute blog to see her full Christmas post and all of her other exciting stuff! Thanks for letting me share your beautiful fireplace Kelly  :)

Christmas Decor

Now that my tree has been finished for a few weeks I finally decided I should put up the rest of the Christmas decor. While I was pulling all of my stuff out I really decided I was slacking in the Christmas section. Ah well… I made due with what I had. I’ve been switching out the decor on my faux beam shelf and it’s been really fun! I’m not sure what I will do with it when the holidays are over. Here are a few pictures of the “Christmas Beam”.

I really need to add something to my wall space under my shelf and I’ve had my eye on these paintings from Ballard.

At a lovely $299 a piece they might have to become a DIY project after the holidays. I’m still brainstorming though :)

My rustic ladder looked a little lonely in the corner so I draped the long stocking over it to give it some Christmas bling.

So, do you have all of your Christmas up and ready? I know some people put there tree up on Christmas Eve as a tradition. That would be a fun tradition but I really love savoring the warm glow from the lights for as long as possible!

Living Room Tables

Underneaths….. do you paint them? Ya know…. when you are refinishing a piece of furniture and you know that no one will see underneath it (well maybe your cute little children) do you paint it? I’ve had this little curvy end table for my living room for quite awhile; it got a much needed coat of paint today. Do I paint underneath it?

I stopped at the D.I. (thrift store) yesterday to grab a gag gift and found this beauty…..

I’ve been looking for a coffee table for awhile to fill the awkward open space in my room. I dove right in and painted both of my tables as soon as the kiddos went down for their naps. My approach on painting was a bit different this time.

Yep, that’s my kitchen. It’s getting a little chilly here in Utah and the garage just didn’t make for a very comfy painting space.  No worries. I’m using good ol latex paint so it didn’t fume up the house and I put my tables on old blankets so my floor didn’t get dirty.

I swore I had more paint trays but …. I didn’t and I was DETERMINED to get these bad boys painted. So I compromised by using….. TA DA paper plates! Awesome, I know, but they worked.

Hey, it all worked out and my tables got their lovely coat of off white. The paint dried much faster than it would have painting it in the freezing garage and they were done before the kiddos woke up! SCORE! The question is…. do you paint your underneaths? I didnt ;)

I’ll post the finished pictures soon. The tables just need a little distressing and glaze so they aren’t so stark white :)
