Refinshed Coffee Table

Alright guys my $30 coffee table took me FOREVER to finish, phew sorry about that. I had a “vision” and I ignored it…. BIG mistake. My vision was the stained top table but I painted the entire thing white and I hated it! I had to sand all of the white paint off and stain the top but it was so worth it!

After I finished sanding the top the little nobs turned more silver colored. It added a little industrial feel that I really liked so I added the industrial wheels to match and to add height.

I’m getting major spring fever so I figured it’s time to use some fresh decor. I found these metal floral prints at Rod Works and couldn’t resist. They are really meant for my bedroom but I’m using them here for now.

I switched out my stenciled curtains for the white curtains I had in my bedroom. They lightened up the room and gave it a fresh new look.

Do ya wanna see what my living room look liked when we first moved in? It was about 3 years ago…. for the LOVE of brown lol ;)

:: now ::

Ahhhh much better! Our new paint color changed the entire feel of our home and its exactly what I was going for!

So have you started switching things up and adding in your spring decor?

Picking Paint: Lighting

A strong/bold color might be too overpowering when used on all of the walls in your room but if you choose a wall that is exposed to indirect sunlight it might work really well! Lighting is key when deciding on paint. Make sure you pay close attention to the different aspects of lighting in the room/area you are painting.

Lighting

There are three different types of lighting and each one will make your paint hue look slightly different.

{Natural Daylight} – gives your truest color

{}

{Incandescent Lighting} – Brings out warm tones and yellow hues.

This will be the light from your normal every day light bulb.

{Fluorescent Lighting} – Casts blue tones

Often used in Commercial buildings/offices.

It is important to expose your color options to all three of these lights before making your final choice. When picking out your paint cards pay close attention to the light boxes in the area. You can slide your paint chip under the box to expose your hue to each of these three colors. It’s always best to test the hue in your room with the actual lighting. Tomorrow I’m sharing tips on how to test your paint colors; which will also apply to lighting. Stay tuned!

Jar Terrariums

They are finished! I finally found more succulents so I could finish building my jar terrariums. They aren’t as full or vibrant as my inspiration but I love them! I had the hardest time finding decent succulents when it finally dawned on me….. IKEA! I swear sometimes that place has the answer to everything ;)

These two smaller succulents are both from IKEA. If you plan on making your own terrariums check there first. They had the BEST selection.

The succulents in my large jar are from Home Depot; their selection was horrible! It consisted of the four plants that are in my pot and they were all very small. I was desperate and wanted my terrariums finished so I bought them. I hope they survive!

Here is the entourage of terrariums ha ha ha. This is seriously the perfect spot to place them and I love the simple/clean look they provide. Wish me luck with my not so green thumb! If you want to build your own terrariums stop by and visit Jamie for an awesome tutorial.

While I was at IKEA I picked up this cute fake herb plant to build a new table scape for my dining table. It works for now!

I also picked up this lovely item……

Yep its blue and white stripes…. my current obsession and I think I’m making pillows with it for my bedroom. It will look awesome with my latest purchase which is currently being shipped!
